Summary

This was the project I did immediately after Orbital Fizz. Given a week less (4), we were given the same guidelines as before: pitch an advertisement, narrative, or infographic, and then create it. Initially I wanted to create an extravagant, lavish commercial for a luxury watch, but after receiving feedback for my pitch, the idea took on a more ominous, story-driven tone. The project took on a unorthodox mix between a narrative and advertisement animation. This assignment was created using Blender and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Process

As with most animated projects, the production of this one really started with the storyboards.
The first thing I wanted to model was the watch. So that's what I did.
I wanted to get into animating as soon as possible, so the next thing I created was the chamber room where most of the animation takes place.
With a rough cut of the animation done at this point, I then went on to create the other two environments.
Like the soda advertisement, I used this assignment as an excuse to learn more about a type of simulation, although this time it was a smoke sim. Here is a screenshot of that. I found this type of sim much simpler and easier to work with than fluid.
The whole animation was then refined and exported. Video and audio editing was finalized using Premiere Pro.
