Summary
This project was the focus of the majority of one of my classes. Like some of my other projects, we were told to create an advertisement, however we were given more time for this one. This project utilized Blender, Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter, and Premiere Pro.
Process
I decided I wanted to make an advertisement for a gaming chair. I figured this product would allow me to make some interesting textures, it would also naturally lend itself well for animation. I started with storyboarding the advertisement.
The "spill-resistant" part of the commercial did not make it to the final result. The class this was for had us do some type of simulation for an assignment, so I initially incorporated it into my storyboards.
In terms of asset creation, I started and finished a rough model of the chair. I placed the untextured chair within a rough lighting setup for visualization purposes as well.
I used Autodesk Maya to UV unwrap the model, then took it into Substance Painter for texturing. There I created a diffuse, displacement, metallic, normal, and roughness map.
Here is a screenshot within substance of the textured chair:
The rest of the project was the animation. Animation was done in Blender. Premiere pro was used for post production: audio editing, adding text, etc.
